My name is Helen Baldwin. I have always been interested in plant medicine and nearly trained to be a medical herbalist over 30 years ago, life took a different route and I am relieved I found my way back. Studying herbal medicine has been life-changing: I love that I am continuing this living tradition. It feels really special to be able to treat people using the oldest and most natural form of medicine there is.
I studied at the School of Herbal Medicine in Somerset. The advanced diploma takes 6 years to complete covering anatomy and physiology, pharmacy, botany, clinical skills, herbal therapeutics, immunology and microbiology, pharmacognosy and history of herbal medicine plus over 500 hours of hands on supervised patient contact. In addition we were encouraged to treat people from the start of the course, working on treatment plans with patients under the guidance of our tutors.
I forage and grow herbs, harvesting them to make my own medicines as much as possible. I love sharing this knowledge and run workshops and give talks to local groups. I am passionate about my work and love to empower people to use plant medicine to keep healthy. There are so many simple things we can do to make use of what we have on our doorstep.
I am FREC3 qualified and work at festivals and events providing first aid.
Please see my events page for details of forthcoming workshop and talk dates.
